MARCH 2013 – Health Promotion Segments

Mobile Dental Clinic – During the month of March clients attended and received treatment from a mobile dental clinic on site at Carrigoran.

Medications – Our local pharmacist provided information and support regarding medications – how and when to take them, how to store and disposal of them and lots of other relevant information.

Entitlements – The ladies from Shannon Citizens Information Centre held their outreach clinic 3 times during the month to assist with queries regarding entitlements and other helpful information.

Reminiscence – Clare Local Resource Centre visited several times during the month with interesting and fun local history items including archives, newspapers from the local area from the 1960’s, leaflets and flyer’s from times gone by. This was a great source of conversation and interest.

FEBRUARY 2013

February started off with reviving some old traditions like making St. Bridget’s Crosses. After that came the celebration of St. Valentine’s Day with lots of sweet treats made on the day, flower arranging including table pieces and clients making their own rose button holes corsages and Valentines Cards. The entire centre had a romantic themed red colour scheme, including staff!

We had several days with live music and thanks to all our wonderful volunteers who make each day so enjoyable for the clients at our DayCentre.

JANUARY 2013

The DayCentre’s first month in operation was a hive of activity. Clients attending from our catchment areas were busy identifying what activities they would like to get involved in and getting to know each other and familiarising themselves with all the options our facility has to offer.

A number of different interests are being pursued including knitting &crochet, cookery, exercise, singing & music, arts & crafts, newspaper discussion groups, gardening and many more.
